Chan Meibao: The first batch of Guangdong cars arrived in Hong Kong today. "Guangdong cars heading south" will achieve another milestone in the first quarter of next year.
Chen Meibao added that after the first batch of Guangdong vehicles arrives in Hong Kong today, another milestone will be reached in the first quarter of next year when a parking lot for transferring between cars will be completed by the Airport Authority.
On December 23rd, the Director of the Hong Kong Transport and Logistics Bureau, Chen Meibao, visited the charging station on Lantau Island and met with the media. She mentioned that the station, located near the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, is a new charging station and information center set up by China Resources Power and the Transport Department. Early this morning, like many other citizens, I witnessed on TV the first batch of Guangdong vehicles entering Hong Kong city area through the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. Seeing them so happy reminded me of my pleasant experience driving through the bridge for the first time to Hong Kong. These passengers had arranged some tourism and business activities in Hong Kong, showing that the Guangdong vehicles traveling south is a milestone in policy innovation that strengthens the connection between the two regions and shortens the distance between Guangdong and Hong Kong.
This morning, the inspection process for the Guangdong vehicles entering Hong Kong through the bridge was very efficient, taking only a few minutes. Passengers could stay in their vehicles for the inspection. This was the result of the cooperation between the Special Administrative Region government and Guangdong, showcasing innovative measures. We hope that by implementing the Guangdong vehicles traveling south, and utilizing the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, people from both regions can benefit from the exchanges and promote Hong Kong's various industries.
Chen Meibao also mentioned that after today's first batch of Guangdong vehicles arrived in Hong Kong, another milestone for the Guangdong vehicles traveling South program will be reached in the first quarter of next year when the Airport Authority completes a parking lot for transfers. We plan to learn from the good experiences of this time and provide more diversified tourism experiences for Guangdong travelers coming to Hong Kong. As we approach the end of December and the new year, we hope to offer mainland tourists a unique Christmas atmosphere when they come to Hong Kong. In the early next year, apart from the Lunar New Year, there will be other events such as golf tournaments, cultural activities, and concerts. We look forward to promoting these activities to mainland residents.
