With SpaceX receiving a new round of valuation increase, Elon Musk's personal wealth has reached a new high, surpassing $600 billion for the first time. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the world's richest person currently has a net worth of close to $638 billion. The previous valuation of SpaceX in an internal stock transaction reached about $800 billion, making the rocket manufacturer headquartered in Texas the world's most valuable private company. Musk is the founder and CEO of the company.
After applying a discount for the liquidity of unlisted companies, Musk's 42% stake is valued at approximately $317 billion.
This is the first time that the Bloomberg Billionaires Index has calculated an individual's wealth exceeding $600 billion. Musk, aged 54, first crossed the $100 billion mark in 2020 when the market value of Tesla, Inc. (TSLA.US), of which he is also CEO, skyrocketed. When he was included in the index in May 2013, his net worth was only $4.8 billion.
If SpaceX can successfully conduct its first initial public offering (IPO) as planned next year and achieve its $1.5 trillion valuation target, Musk's wealth will further increase. At that time, the value of his holdings will exceed $625 billion, making him likely to become the world's first trillionaire.
SpaceX has become a leading company in the orbital launch field with its Falcon 9 rocket and provides internet services through the Starlink satellite system. In the previous secondary offering in July of this year, the company was valued at approximately $400 billion.
Recently, Musk has also been heavily promoting his plan to build a space-based artificial intelligence data center.
