The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has approved two L3 level autonomous driving vehicle products.
According to the news from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on December 15th, recently, two car companies, Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd. (000625.SZ) and BAIC BluePark New Energy Technology Magna Automotive Co., Ltd., have submitted applications for the access approval of intelligent connected vehicles with L3 level conditional autonomous driving function to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. In accordance with the relevant regulations such as the "Regulations on the Access Management of Road Motor Vehicle Manufacturers and Products," after acceptance, review, public announcement, etc., the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology conditionally approved the related products in the 401st batch of the "Announcement." The first product is the Changan SC7000AAARBEV pure electric sedan, which can achieve autonomous driving function (up to a maximum speed of 50km/h) in single lanes on highways and urban expressways in traffic congestion environments. Currently, this function is only available on certain sections in Chongqing, such as the Inner Ring Expressway, the New Inner Ring Expressway, and Yududu Avenue. The second product is the Jihou BJ7001A61NBEV pure electric sedan, which can achieve autonomous driving function (up to a maximum speed of 80km/h) in single lanes on highways and urban expressways. Currently, this function is only available on certain sections in Beijing, such as the Beijing-Taipei Expressway, the Airport North Line Expressway, and the Airport Expressway. In the previous stage, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, in accordance with the requirements of the "Notice on Carrying out the Pilot Work of Access and On-road Operation of Intelligent Connected Vehicles," worked with relevant departments to research and formulate work plans, compile guidance documents, organize expert teams, and strictly conduct preliminary review, selection, testing, and safety evaluation work in accordance with norms and procedures. The two car companies have completed the product testing and safety evaluation as required. Next, the two models will be tested on the road in the above-mentioned areas by Chongqing Chang'an Vehicle Networking Technology Co., Ltd. and Beijing Travel Automotive Service Co., Ltd. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will work with relevant departments and local authorities to strengthen vehicle operation monitoring and safety assurance, summarize experiences in a timely manner, continuously improve the access management and standard regulatory system for intelligent connected vehicles, and promote the high-quality development of China's intelligent connected new energy vehicle industry.
