As of press time, Jiangxi Copper (00358) rose by 4.34% to 35.12 Hong Kong dollars; Minmetals Resources (01208) rose by 4.04% to 8.5 Hong Kong dollars; China Daye Non-Ferrous Metals (00661) rose by 3.77% to 0.11 Hong Kong dollars; China Nonferrous Mining (01258) rose by 3.16% to 17.29 Hong Kong dollars.
The copper industry stocks opened higher across the board. As of the time of writing, JIANGXI COPPER (00358) rose by 4.34% to 35.12 Hong Kong dollars; MMG (01208) rose by 4.04% to 8.5 Hong Kong dollars; CDAYENONFER (00661) rose by 3.77% to 0.11 Hong Kong dollars; CHINFMINING (01258) rose by 3.16% to 17.29 Hong Kong dollars. On the news front, the unexpected decrease of 32,000 jobs in the US in November ADP report indicates a shrinking labor market, leading investors to increase their bets on the Federal Reserve's rate cut next week. According to the CME FedWatch tool, the market currently estimates an 89% probability of a rate cut by the Federal Reserve next Wednesday. In addition, CSPT recently reached a consensus to reduce the mining copper capacity load by more than 10% in 2026 to improve the supply and demand fundamentals of copper concentrate. Galaxy Securities released a research report stating that the mining and metallurgy game is stimulating the rise in copper prices. Additionally, with the possibility of the US imposing additional tariffs on copper in the future and the "suction effect" of American copper leading to global inventory distribution differentiation and low inventory levels in non-US regions, as well as the Federal Reserve's continued rate cuts in the fourth quarter and the possibility of stopping the balance sheet reduction and starting expansion, are expected to boost market liquidity, and are likely to drive copper prices higher.
