Omdia: In Q3 2025, Lenovo's tablet shipments in the Chinese market surged by over 70%, further expanding its market share in the PC sector.
Lenovo (00992) has shown strong counter-cyclical capabilities in this market environment, leading the industry with impressive growth in both shipment volume and market share. At the same time, the growth rate of its tablet business has exceeded 70%, further consolidating its core competitive advantage in the smart terminal field, becoming a "stabilizer" in the market volatility.
Omdia's latest data shows that in the third quarter of 2025, the growth pace of the Chinese PC market slowed down due to weakening consumer demand, with a mere 2% year-over-year increase. Among the top manufacturers, both Huawei and iSoftStone Information Technology experienced negative growth. However, Lenovo (00992) demonstrated strong countercyclical capability in this market environment, leading the industry with impressive growth in shipments and market share, while its tablet business saw a breakthrough in growth rate, further consolidating its core competitive advantage in the smart terminal field, becoming a "stabilizer" in the market fluctuations.
Differentiated Trends in the PC Market
Omdia's latest monitoring data shows that the total shipment of PC market in China (including desktops, laptops, and workstations) reached 11.3 million units in the third quarter of 2025, a 2% year-on-year growth. In this context, Lenovo remained the industry leader with a shipment of 4.4 million units and a market share of 39%, a 14% year-on-year growth, far exceeding the overall market growth rate, becoming a key driving force for industry growth.
In contrast to Lenovo's strong performance, other major manufacturers showed weak market performance. Huawei's Q3 PC shipment volume was 1 million units, a 7% year-on-year decrease, with a market share dropping to 9%; iSoftStone Information Technology also had a shipment volume of 1 million units, a 13% year-on-year decline, maintaining a market share of 8%; ASUS's shipment volume was 900,000 units, remaining flat year-on-year, with a market share of 8%; even HP, which performed relatively well with a 2% year-on-year growth, still had a shipment volume of around 1 million units and failed to challenge Lenovo's leading position.
It is worth noting that Lenovo's growth is not dependent on a single product category. Driven by strong demand in the commercial market, Lenovo's desktop (including workstations) business is also gaining momentum, while its laptop business maintains stability in the context of weakened consumer subsidies, this "dual-wheel drive" product layout gives it stronger resilience in market fluctuations.
Tablets Become a New Growth Pole
Unlike the PC market, tablet computers maintained strong growth momentum in 2025, with shipments in the Chinese market increasing by 9% to 8.8 million units.
Lenovo's performance in the tablet field is also eye-catching, becoming another major growth engine for the company. Omdia data shows that in the third quarter of 2025, Lenovo's tablet shipments in the Chinese market reached 900,000 units, a staggering 71% year-on-year increase, market share increased to 10%, ranking among the top in growth rate among major manufacturers.
So far this year, Lenovo has continued to expand its tablet product portfolio, covering a wide range of scenarios from basic daily use to gaming, productivity, etc., accompanied by the high cost-performance advantage brought by direct subsidy from the manufacturer, successfully attracting a large number of users. In comparison, Apple's tablet shipments declined by 14% year-on-year, with market share shrinking to 23%, Lenovo's rapid growth further highlights its competitive potential in the tablet market.
Emma Xu, Senior Analyst at Omdia, stated: The popularity of AI is accelerating in the consumer and commercial markets in mainland China. CPU performance, storage capacity, and NPU modules are still the key hardware indicators that buyers of AI-related applications (including creative demand) are most concerned about. Lenovo's forward-looking layout in AI technology also enhances its product competitiveness.
Currently, Lenovo has integrated AI assistants, cross-device interconnections, AI applications, and other functions into its PC and tablet products, providing a more attractive value experience for productivity scene users through unified AI back-end capabilities. Omdia predicts that by 2025, 32% of PCs in Greater China will have AI capabilities, and by 2026, this proportion will increase to 46%.
Although Omdia predicts a slight 2% decline in the Chinese PC market in 2026 due to further weakening consumer demand, and the tablet market will also face a 9% decline, Lenovo, with its deep accumulation in the commercial market, continuous empowerment of AI technology, and high growth momentum in the tablet business, is expected to continue to resist market fluctuations and maintain its leading position.
