On November 26th, Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao held a video conference with German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Peter Altmaier. The two sides exchanged frank views on issues such as ASML Semiconductor. Wang Wentao stated that the proactive suspension of the administrative order by the Dutch side was a small step towards properly resolving the ASML Semiconductor issue. However, as the Dutch side has not revoked its improper administrative and judicial interventions in the company, the global semiconductor supply chain remains very fragile, with the root cause of chaos and turmoil still existing. The Dutch side should swiftly show sincerity and take practical actions, put forward constructive proposals, fundamentally address the concerns of all parties, and create conditions for the stable and unimpeded restoration of the global semiconductor supply chain.
Both sides agreed that companies are the main actors in resolving the ASML Semiconductor issue. ASML Netherlands and ASML China should engage in constructive communication on internal disputes as soon as possible, and find effective long-term solutions.
