According to informed sources, Kohl's Department Stores (KSS.US) is expected to officially appoint Michael Bender as the permanent CEO as early as next Monday local time.
It is reported that after interviewing and selecting multiple candidates, the company's board of directors ultimately decided to officially appoint Bender as the CEO. It is understood that Bender joined the Kohl's board of directors in July 2019 and has been serving as interim CEO since this spring.
This troubled retailer fired its previous CEO, Ashley Buchanan, who had only been in office for 100 days in May of this year. Prior to this, the company's investigation found that Buchanan had undisclosed personal ties with a supplier and had actively promoted cooperation with the supplier during this time.
Kohl's and Bender did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The company will release its financial report on Tuesday, at which time the market can further observe the direction of the company under Bender's leadership and the actual execution of Buchanan's established strategies.
