According to data from the Statistics and Census Service of Macao, in October 2025, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Macao rose by 0.60% year-on-year and by 0.03% month-on-month. Over the twelve months leading up to October of the current year, the average CPI increased by 0.26% compared to the same period a year ago (from November 2023 to October 2024).
Compared to the same month last year, in October, the price index for food and non-alcoholic beverages in Macao increased by 0.70%, driven mainly by higher dining out and delivery fees, as well as increased rental costs, which led to a 0.33% increase in the housing and fuels category. Among the different categories, the most significant year-on-year increases were seen in Tobacco and Alcohol (+2.48%) and Recreation, Sports, and Culture (+2.35%). On the other hand, the price index for Information and Communication (-2.57%) and Clothing and Footwear (-1.07%) decreased. The CPI for Category A and Category B items increased by 0.52% and 0.66% respectively year-on-year.
Compared to September, the CPI in Macao increased by 0.03% in October. The price index for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 0.08% month-on-month, mainly due to higher prices for vegetables, dining out, and delivery fees. Clothing and Footwear (+1.30%) and Miscellaneous Goods and Services (including personal care, insurance, and jewelry and watches, among others, +0.92%) also saw increases. On the other hand, lower electricity prices and airline ticket prices led to a decrease in the price index for Housing and Fuels (-0.27%) and Transport (-0.17%). The CPI for Category A items decreased by 0.01% month-on-month, while Category B items increased by 0.05%.
Over the twelve months leading up to October of the current year, the average CPI in Macao increased by 0.26% compared to the same period a year ago. Among the different categories, the largest increases were seen in Miscellaneous Goods and Services (+1.99%), Recreation, Sports, and Culture (+1.60%), and Education (+1.17%), while the price index for Information and Communication (-2.51%) and Transport (-1.85%) decreased. The CPI for Category A and Category B items increased by 0.21% and 0.29% respectively.
In the first ten months of this year, the average CPI in Macao increased by 0.26% year-on-year, with Category A and Category B items increasing by 0.20% and 0.30% respectively.
