PONY-W (02026) announces a collaboration with Sany Heavy Truck and Dongfeng Liuqi to jointly develop the fourth generation of autonomous driving truck family. The fourth generation autonomous driving truck system will be based on a platform design with strong adaptability to different models. The first two models to be launched will be based on Sany Heavy Truck and Dongfeng Liuqi's most advanced electric platform models, with plans to start production in 2026. The mass production of this series of trucks will promote the development and application of autonomous driving truck technology, leading to the industry's transition to "large-scale unmanned commercial operations." The fourth generation autonomous driving truck kit from Pony.ai will use 100% automotive-grade components, reusing most of the components used in the new generation Robotaxi autonomous driving kit. The cost of the autonomous driving kit will decrease by about 70% compared to the previous generation. For example, using the "1+4" convoy autonomous driving solution, the freight cost per kilometer is estimated to decrease by 29% compared to traditional freight transportation, with a 195% increase in freight profit, resulting in a significant increase in efficiency and quality in freight logistics. The fourth generation autonomous driving trucks will enhance the safety and reliability of autonomous freight logistics by reusing the full redundancy design and safety standards used in the new generation Robotaxi. The design life of the fourth generation autonomous driving truck system is 20,000 hours, supporting 1 million kilometers of freight operation. The trucks will be equipped with a fully redundant wire-controlled chassis, with steering, braking, communication, power supply, computing, and sensor systems all adopting a fully redundant architecture to ensure safe operation in various situations. Additionally, the trucks will undergo rigorous testing for electromagnetic compatibility, reliability, high temperatures, extreme cold, and other scenarios to enhance the safety of autonomous freight transportation. China is the world's largest long-distance truck freight market and is accelerating the transformation to intelligent logistics. Pony.ai has been developing autonomous driving truck technology since 2018, with a fleet of approximately 200 autonomous driving trucks and over 10 billion ton-kilometers of freight transported. The company has also obtained the first or initial autonomous driving truck road testing permits and freight road transportation operation permits in several regions nationwide.
