Hong Kong International Airport handled a total of 5.37 million passengers and 34,465 flight movements in October 2025, representing year-on-year increases of 18% and 9.1%, respectively.
According to news from Hong Kong International Airport on November 17, Hong Kong International Airport processed a total of 5.37 million passengers in October 2025, with 34,465 aircraft movements, representing increases of 18% and 9.1% respectively compared to the same period last year. In the month, routes to and from Southeast Asia, Mainland China, and Taiwan recorded the most significant increase in passenger numbers. Transit/transit passengers saw a 50.2% year-on-year increase to 1.5 million. Cargo throughput in October increased by 2.9% year-on-year to 455,000 metric tons. Export cargo continued to be the main driver of growth, increasing by 1.4% to 287,000 metric tons. Among the major trading regions, cargo volume to and from Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia saw the most significant increases. In the first 10 months of this year, the airport processed over 50 million passengers and 325,330 aircraft movements, recording increases of 15.1% and 8.9% respectively compared to the same period in 2024; while cargo throughput increased by 2.3% to 4.12 million metric tons. In the past 12 months, passenger throughput at the airport increased by 15.5% to 59.58 million, with aircraft movements increasing by 9.4% to 389,955; while cargo throughput increased by 3.3% to 5.03 million metric tons. Meanwhile, Hong Kong International Airport has recently been honored with the Best Airport award in multiple international awards. Hong Kong International Airport was named "Asia Large Airport of the Year" in the CAPA Aviation Awards for Excellence for 2025, commending the completion and commissioning of the three-runway system project under various challenges, enhancing the airport's handling capacity for flights, passenger traffic, and cargo throughput, consolidating its position as an international aviation hub, and strengthening its attractiveness as a regional economic center. Furthermore, Hong Kong International Airport continued to be listed in the "Tourism Hall of Fame - Best Airport" in the 2025 TTG Travel Awards. The airport has been receiving this honor since 2013.
