Among them, the total consumption of staying tourists (16.76 billion MOP) and non-staying tourists (3.62 billion MOP) increased by 7.6% and 27.6% respectively. The average per capita expenditure of staying tourists (3,846 MOP) and non-staying tourists (595 MOP) in the third quarter increased by 5.0% and 3.5% respectively compared to the previous year, but due to a significant increase in the number of low-spending non-staying tourists, the average non-gaming expenditure per tourist in the third quarter decreased by 2.6% annually to 1,950 MOP. In terms of consumption patterns, tourists mainly spent on shopping (42.4%), followed by accommodation (26.7%) and dining (21.2%).
According to statistics on the main sources of tourists, the average non-gaming expenditure per tourist from mainland China in the third quarter was 2,123 MOP, a decrease of 5.0% annually, while tourists from Hong Kong (1,063 MOP) and Taiwan (2,335 MOP) saw an increase of 0.1% and 9.8% respectively in average expenditure. The average expenditure per international tourist (2,261 MOP) increased by 3.3% annually, with tourists from South Korea (2,460 MOP) in Northeast Asia experiencing a 2.4% increase, and those from Japan (1,939 MOP) a 0.6% decrease. Tourists from Southeast Asia, such as Singapore (3,921 MOP), Thailand (3,306 MOP) and Malaysia (2,548 MOP), recorded increases of 14.0%, 11.9% and 22.4% in average expenditure. In terms of the main purposes of coming to Macao, tourists who participated in exhibitions (4,488 MOP) and watched performances/events (3,324 MOP) had higher average expenditures.
The total non-gaming expenditure of tourists in the first three quarters of 2025 (58.25 billion MOP) increased by 3.6% annually, with the total expenditure of staying (46.77 billion MOP) and non-staying tourists (11.48 billion MOP) rising by 1.6% and 12.8% respectively. The average non-gaming expenditure per tourist (1,963 MOP) recorded a 9.5% annual decrease. In terms of the main sources of tourists, the average expenditure per tourist from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and international tourists was 2,206 MOP, 981 MOP, 2,084 MOP and 1,993 MOP, with annual decreases of 11.3%, 9.0%, 1.1% and 11.2% respectively. In terms of the main purposes of coming to Macao, tourists who participated in exhibitions (4,398 MOP) and watched performances/events (3,811 MOP) had higher average expenditures in the first three quarters.
