In the third quarter of 2025, China's current account surplus was 1.3948 trillion yuan, with a merchandise trade surplus of 1.9213 trillion yuan, a services trade deficit of 0.352 trillion yuan, a primary income deficit of 0.2324 trillion yuan, and a secondary income surplus of 0.579 trillion yuan.
On November 7, the State Administration of Foreign Exchange released the preliminary data of China's international balance of payments for the third quarter and the first three quarters of 2025. In the third quarter of 2025, China's current account surplus was 1.3948 trillion yuan, including a goods trade surplus of 1.9213 trillion yuan, a services trade deficit of 352 billion yuan, a primary income deficit of 232 billion yuan, and a secondary income surplus of 57.9 billion yuan. The capital and financial account (including net errors and omissions for the quarter) had a deficit of 1.3948 trillion yuan, with net inflows of foreign direct investment to China. In the first three quarters of 2025, China's current account surplus was 3.5074 trillion yuan, with a goods trade surplus of 5.2015 trillion yuan, a services trade deficit of 1.1166 trillion yuan, a primary income deficit of 684.4 billion yuan, and a secondary income surplus of 106.9 billion yuan. The capital and financial account (including net errors and omissions for the third quarter) had a deficit of 3.3885 trillion yuan. In US dollar terms, in the third quarter of 2025, China's current account surplus was 195.6 billion US dollars, including a goods trade surplus of 269.5 billion US dollars, a services trade deficit of 49.4 billion US dollars, a primary income deficit of 32.6 billion US dollars, and a secondary income surplus of 8.1 billion US dollars. The capital and financial account (including net errors and omissions for the quarter) had a deficit of 195.6 billion US dollars. In US dollar terms, in the first three quarters of 2025, China's current account surplus was 489.8 billion US dollars, with a goods trade surplus of 726.2 billion US dollars, a services trade deficit of 155.8 billion US dollars, a primary income deficit of 95.5 billion US dollars, and a secondary income surplus of 14.9 billion US dollars. The capital and financial account (including net errors and omissions for the third quarter) had a deficit of 473.3 billion US dollars. In SDR terms, in the third quarter of 2025, China's current account surplus was 142.9 billion SDR, including a goods trade surplus of 196.9 billion SDR, a services trade deficit of 36.1 billion SDR, a primary income deficit of 23.8 billion SDR, and a secondary income surplus of 5.9 billion SDR. The capital and financial account (including net errors and omissions for the quarter) had a deficit of 142.9 billion SDR. In SDR terms, in the first three quarters of 2025, China's current account surplus was 363.9 billion SDR, with a goods trade surplus of 539.4 billion SDR, a services trade deficit of 116.1 billion SDR, a primary income deficit of 70.5 billion SDR, and a secondary income surplus of 11 billion SDR.
