According to the latest figures released by the Hong Kong Rating and Valuation Department on Thursday, November 6th, the number of newly completed private residential units in September was 1,004, a significant increase of about 69.6% from 592 units in August. By district, Kowloon had the most private residential units completed in September, with 548 units, while the New Territories had 450 units completed, breaking the "zero completion" situation in both districts in August. However, only 6 units were completed in the Hong Kong Island district, a decrease of 99% from the previous month. In the first nine months of this year, Kowloon had the highest number of completed units at 8,105, an increase of about 65.3% from the same period last year when there were 4,902 units. The Hong Kong Island district recorded 2,457 completed units, an increase of 5 times from the same period last year, while the New Territories had 2,792 units completed, a significant decrease of about 50.2% from the previous year. As of September, a total of 13,354 private residential units were completed, an increase of about 22.3% from the same period last year when there were 10,921 units, reaching about 64% of the annual target of 20,862 units. This is an improvement from the previous year when the target was only reached by about 49%. In terms of the type of units completed, the majority were units with a usable area of 431 square feet or less, totaling 7,113 units as of September, an increase of about 16.3% from the same period last year when there were 6,119 units completed. The second most common type was medium-sized units with a usable area of about 431 to 752 square feet, with 4,431 units completed, an increase of about 18.8% from the same period last year. The category with the largest increase in completed units compared to the previous year was medium-sized units with a usable area of about 753 to 1,075 square feet, with 1,155 units completed in the first nine months of this year, an increase of about 2.9 times from the same period last year. The category with the largest decrease in completed units was large-sized units with a usable area of about 1,076 to 1,721 square feet, with 521 units completed, a decrease of about 17.7% from the same period last year.
