Robinhood (HOOD.US) Q3 net profit skyrocketed by 271%, surpassing expectations, but cryptocurrency revenue lagged behind. The CFO will take over next year.
Robinhood has announced its financial performance for the third quarter of 2025, ending on September 30, 2025.
After the market closed on November 5th, Robinhood (HOOD.US) announced its financial performance for the third quarter of 2025, ending on September 30, 2025. The financial report showed that the company's total net revenue in the third quarter increased by 100% year-on-year to $1.274 billion; net profit surged by 271% year-on-year to $556 million; diluted earnings per share (EPS) jumped by 259% year-on-year to $0.61, surpassing analysts' average expectation of $0.53 per share. Despite the company's third-quarter profits exceeding Wall Street expectations, the revenue from cryptocurrency did not meet expectations.
By business segment, Robinhood's trading revenue in the third quarter increased by 129% year-on-year to $730 million. This growth was mainly driven by three major categories: cryptocurrency revenue of $268 million fell short of expectations, with a year-on-year increase of over 300%; options revenue reached $304 million, up 50% year-on-year; and stock revenue was $86 million, up 132% year-on-year.
Additionally, the company's net interest revenue increased by 66% year-on-year to $456 million, benefiting from the growth of interest-earning assets and securities lending business, partially offset by the decrease in short-term interest rates. Other revenue also increased by 100% year-on-year to $88 million, mainly attributed to the continued growth of Robinhood Gold subscription users.
Meanwhile, Robinhood announced a personnel change: Chief Financial Officer Jason Warnick will officially step down in the first quarter of 2026, and his position will be taken over by Shiv Verma.
Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev emphasized in a statement, "Our team's continued product development speed has set new business records in the third quarter, and this momentum will not slow down - the forecast market is rapidly growing, Robinhood's banking business is steadily advancing, and the Robinhood Ventures project is also about to launch."
As of the time of writing, Robinhood's stock price fell by 1.74% after hours to $140. It is worth noting that the stock has nearly quadrupled since the beginning of the year, and the positive news of being included in the S&P 500 index in the third quarter further boosted the stock price.
In terms of business diversification, Robinhood has been committed to reducing its reliance on trading revenue. Earlier this week, the company announced a partnership with Sage Home Loans to offer mortgage services to its customers. Additionally, Robinhood plans to launch a closed-end fund to provide American retail investors with opportunities to invest in private companies, further expanding its sources of income.
