By the end of September, the scale of China's new energy storage installed capacity exceeded 100 million kilowatts, an increase of over 30 times compared to the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan. The installed capacity accounts for over 40% of the global total, positioning China as the world's number one.
According to the National Energy Administration, as of the end of September, China's installed capacity of new energy storage has exceeded 100 million kilowatts, and the installed capacity has jumped to the world's number one position. The latest data shows that by the end of September, China's installed capacity of new energy storage has exceeded 100 million kilowatts, an increase of over 30 times compared to the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan. The installed capacity accounts for over 40% of the global total, already ranking first in the world. Currently, the trend of large-scale development of new energy storage in China is evident, with large-scale installations of 100,000 kilowatts or more accounting for over two-thirds. In the first three quarters, the equivalent utilization hours of new energy storage in the country were approximately 770 hours, an increase of about 120 hours year-on-year. The role of new energy storage in promoting the development and integration of new energy sources, as well as enhancing the security and stability of the power system, is gradually strengthening. It is understood that so-called new energy storage refers to energy storage technologies other than pumped storage, including electrochemical energy storage, compressed air energy storage, flywheel energy storage, thermal storage, cold storage, hydrogen storage, etc. Against the backdrop of the "dual-carbon" goal, the scale of new energy sources such as wind and solar power continues to expand, but they have the characteristics of fluctuations and intermittency. New energy storage can regulate and smooth out the fluctuations of renewable energy integration, alleviate peak shaving pressures, and is a key to building a new power system. The report "In-depth Analysis and Development Trend Forecast of China's New Energy Storage Industry from 2025 to 2030" released by the China Business Industry Research Institute shows that by the end of 2024, China's installed capacity of new energy storage will reach 78.3 GW, a year-on-year increase of 126.5%. Analysts at the China Business Industry Research Institute predict that by 2025, the cumulative installed capacity of new energy storage in China will reach 131.3 GW. Recently, several energy storage-related companies have secured orders, such as Nanrui Jibu Bao and international energy storage developer PacificGreen Group signing an agreement; Shanghai HYP-ARCH Architectural Design Consultant's wholly-owned subsidiary, Shanghai Hope Digital New Energy Development Co., Ltd., signing a procurement contract for an energy storage system worth 520 million yuan. Opensource Securities stated that the "anti-cannibalization" in the photovoltaic industry has achieved certain positive results...
