NVIDIA CEO Huang Renxun meets with leaders of Samsung Electronics and Hyundai, emphasizing that cooperation between NVIDIA and large Korean technology companies will continue to escalate; "Fried chicken and beer culture" and the $5 trillion market jointly take the stage: Huang Renxun joins forces with Samsung and Hyundai, accelerating the Korean AI landscape.
CEO Huang Renxun of NVIDIA Corporation made his first official visit to South Korea in over ten years on Thursday. During his visit to Seoul, he met with the leaders of Samsung and Hyundai Motors, highlighting the deepening "artificial intelligence partnership" between the AI chip powerhouse and the South Korean storage chip and automotive industry chain. The discussions revolved around HBM memory systems (HBM3E and HBM4), advanced 2.5D/3D packaging, 2nm and below cutting-edge chip processes, as well as driving fully autonomous driving systems, and high-performance NVIDIA GPU systems for humanoid Siasun Robot & Automation.
For NVIDIA Corporation, the continuous strong growth expectations are expected to be boosted by Samsung's 12-layer HBM3E memory system and potential future cooperation in 2nm AI chip manufacturing and advanced packaging. Hyundai Group is working on a "fully autonomous driving system + large-scale humanoid/movable Siasun Robot & Automation team", which is expected to make NVIDIA Corporation's automotive and Siasun Robot & Automation business the second largest growth point after the data center business.
The tech mogul expressed his anticipation of meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung on Friday local time, and mentioned that there will be many significant announcements between NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA.US) and South Korean companies. He also expressed confidence in the earlier talks between China and the US held in South Korea, as well as his confidence in the prospects for NVIDIA Corporation's expansion in the Chinese market.
"I fully believe that the two leaders had very optimistic discussions. But that doesn't necessarily have to involve anything I am doing," Huang Renxun said in an interview in Seoul.
During the GTC conference on the East Coast on Tuesday, Huang Renxun released a major performance signal stating that "Blackwell and the next-generation Rubin architecture will jointly drive NVIDIA Corporation's data center revenue to exceed $500 billion in the next five quarters." This propelled NVIDIA Corporation's total market value to surpass and stabilize at $5 trillion, making it the first company in the world to reach a market value of $5 trillion.
The "AI Pioneer" Huang Renxun firmly believes that the so-called "AI era" has fully arrived, and NVIDIA Corporation is upgrading from a "chip design company" to the "strongest technological foundation of the AI era" - including a full-stack infrastructure related to AI and a complete industrial operating system. NVIDIA Corporation defines this "AI technical base" as a full-stack technology platform that includes silicon products, AI-level rack computing clusters, AI factories, and the entire industry ecosystem.
As Huang Renxun announces a series of groundbreaking news that will drive global AI acceleration, the market may temporarily put aside the so-called "AI bubble argument." During the GTC conference, Huang Renxun even responded positively to market doubts about the "AI bubble," stating that AI has reached a turning point where customers are willing to pay real cash for large models, and the commercial return on expensive AI computing infrastructure has emerged, forming a "positive cycle."
In recent weeks, prices of high-performance DRAM and NAND storage products have soared globally. Additionally, the highest-valued AI startup, OpenAI, has closed a deal worth over $1 trillion for AI computing infrastructure. The two leading storage giants in South Korea, Samsung and SK Hynix, have announced exceptionally strong performance and significantly raised their future outlook, which has significantly strengthened the "long-term bull market narrative" for AI GPU, ASIC, HBM, data center SSD storage systems, liquid cooling systems, core power equipment, and other AI computing infrastructure sectors.
"Hallyu Culture of Fried Chicken and Beer"
Huang Renxun, Samsung Chairman Lee Jae-yong, and Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chairman Chung Eui-sun dined together at a high-end local chain restaurant in the upscale Gangnam area of Seoul, enjoying fried chicken and beer - a popular post-work combination in South Korea known as "chimaek" (fried chicken with beer).
The term "Kkanbu" roughly translates to "close friend" or "very trustworthy partner." This cultural connection in South Korea gained global recognition due to the popular Netflix series "Squid Game" in 2021, symbolizing absolute loyalty between allies.
"To our partnership and future of the world," Huang Renxun was captured saying to Lee Jae-yong and Chung Eui-sun as they arrived at the restaurant.
Hundreds of people, including prominent media, flocked to the area surrounding the restaurant, eager to catch a glimpse of Huang Renxun - the tech titan leading NVIDIA Corporation, the first publicly traded company with a market value of $5 trillion. He is also known for his active engagement and photos with NVIDIA Corporation's fans.
Wearing a black T-shirt and dark pants, Huang Renxun emerged from the restaurant, offering baskets of fried chicken and fried cheese to the gathered crowd outside.
The important meeting of the tech leaders took place before Huang Renxun was expected to announce a series of significant potential statements or any deals with South Korean major companies, aiming to leave both US President Donald Trump and South Korean companies satisfied.
Huang Renxun presented mini NVIDIA AI supercomputers as gifts to both Lee Jae-yong and Chung Eui-sun, with a note on each gift box saying, "To the future, and to our partnership."
Reporters captured the three industry leaders arm in arm, toasting with what is known in Korea as a "love shot," symbolizing friendship and trust.
HBM, 2nm Advanced Chip Process, Autonomous Driving, and Humanoid Siasun Robot & Automation
Regarding the specifics of the high-profile meeting between the three individuals, Huang Renxun briefly mentioned during an interview while leaving the restaurant that they discussed deepening cooperation on HBM storage, fully autonomous driving systems, accelerating the penetration of humanoid Siasun Robot & Automation, and potential chip manufacturing partnership prospects with Samsung and Hyundai decision-makers. "If you look at the entire South Korean technology ecosystem, almost every major company is a close friend and important partner of mine," Huang Renxun stated.
During this week's GTC conference in Washington, Huang Renxun emphasized the "AI GPU architecture product roadmap + AI software and hardware ecosystem collaboration + latest revenue visibility" that he introduced at the GTC conference in Washington, highlighting that human society has entered the "AI era." The market's skepticism about the tech stock "AI bubble" is considered an irrational view on the lack of understanding of the global AI industry chain, and NVIDIA Corporation is accelerating its transformation from a "chip company" to the "strongest foundation of AI."
Huang Renxun made it clear that he will announce collaborations with South Korean partners this week, targeting the core decision-makers at Samsung Electronics and Hyundai Motors, indicating that the collaboration is of the type that can be implemented and scaled rather than a mere formality.
The latest developments show that Samsung Electronics' 12-layer HBM3E has passed NVIDIA Corporation's quality certification and plans to ship HBM4 samples to NVIDIA Corporation for early introduction. This directly alleviates NVIDIA Corporation's critical HBM supply constraints (previously, NVIDIA Corporation's AI GPUs mainly relied on SK Hynix and Micron). This expansion of NVIDIA Corporation's available storage chip capacity further strengthens the negotiation power of HBM storage and accelerates the deployment of AI GPU computing clusters to global data centers, undoubtedly beneficial for the volume pace and profit stability of the Blackwell/Rubin platform.
The global leader in HBM, SK Hynix, achieved record high performance in the third quarter, with operating profit soaring by 62%, driven by the complete selling out of its HBM storage systems. The company stated that it has secured all DRAM and NAND customer demands until 2026, with HBM4 set for shipment by the end of 2025. Wall Street financial giant Morgan Stanley stated that SK Hynix's "sold-out" signal indicates a more constrained storage production capacity, and the environment of rising storage chip prices is expected to continue throughout 2026, bringing the growth prospects for the global storage chip sector closer to the super cycle benchmark of 2017-2018.
The industry is also closely watching the potential cooperation expectations between Samsung's chip manufacturing and advanced packaging system (I-Cube/X-Cube) and NVIDIA Corporation. With market speculations about customized 2nm AI chips and NVLink-related computing ecosystem possibilities potentially landing at Samsung's chip manufacturing facilities, the anticipation for deep cooperation between NVIDIA Corporation and Samsung is rising. If some orders are locally realized in South Korea through a "packaging and testing + supply chain loop," it will further enhance NVIDIA Corporation's supply chain resilience and diversification of the manufacturing GEO Group Inc.
Hyundai Motor Group has established AI cooperation with NVIDIA Corporation for the "future mobility," jointly advancing on autonomous driving/SDV and the Isaac Siasun Robot & Automation platform. This aligns closely with NVIDIA Corporation's announcements during the GTC of the strategic platforms for Siasun Robot & Automation and fully autonomous driving (DRIVE AGX Hyperion 10). Hyundai is a global-scale automotive group, and deep integration with NVIDIA Corporation's GPU computing system in L2+/L3 and higher-level functions and the development and mass production of "AI factoryization" and humanoid Siasun Robot & Automation is expected to provide a long-term order fortress for NVIDIA Corporation's automotive and edge AI businesses.
