Raymond Yip, Director of the Hong Kong Business and Economic Development Bureau, stated at the APEC Ministerial Meeting in Gyeongju, South Korea that Hong Kong is taking continuous action to promote the sustainable development of digital technology, support deepening digital cooperation among APEC economic members, promote economic growth, and address challenges together.
Yip mentioned that promoting sustainable development of digital technology requires strengthening infrastructure and promoting the deep integration of artificial intelligence in various economic sectors. Hong Kong has taken practical actions, such as establishing an AI supercomputing center at Cyberport last year, launching an AI "sandbox" for financial institutions, and promoting digital transformation for small and medium-sized enterprises.
He emphasized the need to ensure that the benefits of technological development reach all industries. Hong Kong is committed to addressing the "digital divide" and issues such as job opportunity losses brought by technological development by introducing measures to enhance retraining and utilization of APEC's innovative concept of "incubator" capacity to promote digital technology cooperation.
