Recently, Hong Kong International Airport announced that the passenger volume in September 2025 reached 4.42 million, with 30,080 aircraft movements, representing an increase of 9.2% and 1.6% respectively compared to the same period last year. Compared to the first eight months of 2025, the overall passenger volume growth in September slowed down, partially due to the airport operations being affected by consecutive typhoons. Over the past nine months, there has been a significant increase in passenger volume to and from mainland China, Taiwan, Japan, and Vietnam. Due to the impact of typhoons and ongoing trade policy uncertainties, the cargo volume in September decreased by 1.0% to 408,000 metric tons compared to the same period last year; the continuous growth in cargo volume to and from Europe and the Middle East partially offset the decline in cargo volume to and from North America. Over the past nine months, there has been continued growth in cargo volume to and from Qatar, Hungary, Belgium, and mainland China. In the first three quarters of this year, the airport handled 44.7 million passengers and 290,885 aircraft movements, with increases of 14.8% and 8.9% respectively compared to the same period in 2024. The cargo volume increased by 2.2% to 3.67 million metric tons. Over the past 12 months, the airport saw a 15.8% increase in passenger volume to 58.8 million, a 10.3% increase in aircraft movements to 387,110, and a 4.1% increase in cargo volume to 5.02 million metric tons.
