The layoffs mainly concentrated at General Motors Company's Tech Center in Warren, Michigan - which is the core Hub Group, Inc. Class A for General Motors' autonomous driving research, software development, and new vehicle design.
This is the third time General Motors Company has reduced its workforce this year: they laid off 1000 salaried employees in January and another 1000 in August. Through adjusted performance evaluation system, General Motors has targeted the bottom 5% of employees for immediate dismissal this year.
General Motors Company's third-quarter performance showed challenges in its electric vehicle (EV) business and import tariffs. However, due to tariff mitigation measures and increased domestic production capacity in the United States, the company has raised its full-year earnings per share (EPS) guidance by approximately 11%.
