Lai Sun Development (00488) announced its financial results for the year ending July 31, 2025, with a turnover of HK$4.899 billion, a decrease of 18.3% compared to the previous year; the company's attributable net loss was HK$2.874 billion, representing a 21.8% narrowing compared to the previous year; and basic loss per share was HK$1.978.
During the period, the company's attributable net loss narrowed compared to the previous fiscal year, mainly due to (i) a decrease in impairment losses on property, plant and equipment and right-of-use assets; (ii) a decrease in depreciation on property, plant and equipment and right-of-use assets as a result of impairment losses on these assets in the previous fiscal year; (iii) a reduction in fair value losses on investment properties; and (iv) lower financing costs. The decrease in loss was partially offset by reduced contributions from the sale of Lai Sun Group properties and the film and television division, along with an increase in losses from associated companies.
