Despite weak demand in the Chinese smartphone market, Apple's shipment volume in China in the third quarter still increased by 0.6% year-on-year, reaching 10.8 million units.
According to data released by research firm IDC on Wednesday, despite weak demand in the Chinese smartphone market, Apple Inc. (AAPL.US) saw a year-on-year increase of 0.6% in shipments in China in the third quarter, reaching 10.8 million units. During this period, Apple Inc. ranked second in shipments with a market share of 15.8%. Specific data shows that total smartphone shipments in China in the third quarter decreased by 0.6% year-on-year to 68.4 million units. The decline in the second quarter was even more pronounced, at 4%. Will Wong, senior smartphone analyst at IDC, said, "The competitively priced base model iPhone 17 from Apple Inc. has successfully attracted price-conscious consumers, helping it achieve a slight growth in shipments and an improvement in its ranking compared to the previous quarter." Among the top three smartphone brands in terms of shipments in China, Apple Inc. was the only brand to achieve an increase in shipments in the quarter. Huawei saw a slight decrease of 1% in shipments to 10.4 million units, ranking third; while the top-ranked vivo saw a year-on-year decrease of 7.8% in shipments to 11.8 million units. However, IDC pointed out that with the launch of multiple flagship models last month, it is expected that the Chinese smartphone market will see a rebound in the beginning of the fourth quarter.
