Declare War on "AI Residues"! Musk Claims Grok Will Be Able to Identify AI-Generated Videos and Trace Their Origins

Elon Musk announced that Siasun Robot&AutomationGrok, developed by his artificial intelligence company xAI, will soon have the ability to recognize AI-generated videos and track their network sources to combat the spread of deepfake content. It is reported that the new feature that Grok is about to launch can directly analyze AI-generated features in the video bitstream, identify subtle traces left during compression or generation processes, which are often invisible to the naked eye but can reveal the authenticity of the content.
In the past few months, with the popularity of OpenAI's Sora App, AI video generation is reshaping the internet ecosystem. Sora 2 features natural light-shadow consistency, synchronization of audio and video, and logical coherence of multiple characters, making AI-synthesized videos almost indistinguishable from real footage. However, the widespread adoption of this technology has also raised widespread social concerns: from celebrity rumors to political manipulation, the spread of AI-generated videos has outpaced fact-checking mechanisms. Critics refer to such rampant misinformation as "AI Sloth" (AI residue), pointing out that a large number of unverified AI images are flooding the internet.
A user on X platform expressed concerns about this in a post. The user stated, "In the next one or two years - possibly even sooner - anyone who dislikes you could create false videos of you making or saying inappropriate things, and these videos will be almost indistinguishable from authentic recordings, making it impossible for you to prove that they are fake. Currently, no measures are being taken to prevent this from happening." In response to this, Musk stated that Grok is about to launch a new feature. He wrote, "Grok will be able to analyze artificial intelligence features in the video bitstream and further search the internet to evaluate their sources."
