Tesla's electric car sales produced in China in September increased by 2.8% year-on-year.
In September, Tesla China's wholesale sales increased by 2.8% year-on-year to reach 90,812 vehicles, ending a two-month downward trend. Previously, its new six-seater models had begun delivery in China. Sales of the Model 3 and Model Y models produced at Tesla's factory in Shanghai (including vehicles exported to Europe and other markets) increased by 9.2% compared to August. Earlier reports suggested that this American automaker also saw a partial rebound in sales in Europe this month. Electric vehicles manufactured by Tesla China began deliveries to India last month. In the third quarter, Tesla delivered 241,890 electric vehicles manufactured in China, the fourth-highest on record. On a global scale, this electric vehicle manufacturer exceeded analysts' expectations with record quarterly deliveries, as the expiration of US tax credits for electric vehicles at the end of September sparked a buying frenzy. Tesla introduced the long-promised affordable Model Y and Model 3 models, with delivery plans for these models set to start in many regions between December and January. However, delivery dates for China have not yet been given. In response to increasingly tough challenges in the world's largest automotive market, Tesla introduced a six-seater version of the Model Y L in August - a long-wheelbase version of its best-selling Model Y. Deliveries of this new model began in September.
