During the National Day Golden Week holiday, the number of inbound tourists reached about 1.64 million, with over 1.4 million of them being mainland tourists. The hotel occupancy rate during the Golden Week period generally reached 90%.
The cross-departmental working group led by Hong Kong Chief Secretary for Administration Matthew Cheung Kin-chung stated today (October 9) that the eight-day mainland National Day Golden Week and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday (National Day Golden Week) from October 1 to 8 has ended successfully. The operation of various aspects of receiving visitors in Hong Kong was smooth, and despite being affected by typhoons during this period, there were around 1.64 million arrivals, with over 1.4 million of them being mainland visitors. The number of visitors to Hong Kong was satisfactory, the market was bustling, and various industries thrived. The hotel occupancy rate during the Golden Week period generally reached 90%.
It is reported that the peak day for mainland visitors arriving in Hong Kong was October 1, with over 230,000 mainland visitors. During the National Day Golden Week, the most commonly used entry point for mainland visitors was the West Kowloon High-Speed Rail, followed by the Lok Ma Chau Spur Line. In terms of mainland inbound tourist groups, during the eight-day Golden Week period, there were about 1,300 mainland inbound tourist groups totaling nearly 49,000 visitors to Hong Kong, with overnight trips accounting for about 60%. The number of tourist groups increased by about 24% compared to last year's seven-day National Day Golden Week. The overall order of the tourist groups was good.
Furthermore, the National Day fireworks display held on October 1 at Victoria Harbour attracted over 340,000 spectators, with smooth crowd control arrangements and well-received by citizens and tourists. The Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance held in Tai Hang also attracted over 100,000 viewers, allowing them to witness the charm of this national-level intangible cultural heritage. The Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival held for eight days at Victoria Park attracted over 380,000 visitors to experience the festive atmosphere.
