The Deputy Financial Secretary of Hong Kong, Paul Chan Mo-po, stated during a speech at the "International Summit on Low Altitude Economy" at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University that in March of this year, 38 low-altitude economic regulatory sandbox pilot projects were announced, with 17 projects landing by the end of September, and 11 projects set to be launched in October.
Chan Mo-po mentioned that by the end of this year, a special spectrum for low-altitude economic communication should be launched. In the early next year, an advanced version of the low-altitude economic "Regulatory Sandbox X" pilot project will be launched, with the hope of covering more complex issues, such as cross-border routes between Hong Kong and certain suitable points in the Mainland, initially focusing on cargo. As for unmanned aerial vehicles capable of carrying passengers weighing over 150 kilograms, if the Director-General of Civil Aviation deems it appropriate, individual approvals can be granted for testing. A roadmap will also be launched next year.
