Hong Kong Commerce and Economic Development Bureau Director Edward Yau stated that the mainland enterprises' "going global" special class officially launched today, aiming to build a bridge for mainland enterprises to access the world.
The Director of the Hong Kong Commerce and Economic Development Bureau, Edward Yau, attended the launching ceremony of the "Mainland Enterprises Go Global Program" on October 6th. He stated that the program aims to build a bridge for mainland enterprises to the world, and hopes to gather various professional forces through this platform to transform the potential of enterprises into actual results. This will allow more mainland enterprises to use Hong Kong as a stepping stone to successfully expand globally. Yau mentioned that as the country transitions from high-speed growth to high-quality development, more excellent mainland enterprises are actively exploring overseas markets, especially in global south, countries along the "Belt and Road" initiative, and emerging economies. These enterprises not only need funds but also appropriate strategies, overseas networks, and a reliable "go-global" base. Hong Kong is capable of playing the role of the starting point for enterprises to go global. During the launching ceremony, Yau announced that the Hong Kong government will integrate Hong Kong's overseas offices, including the Invest Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Mainland China, to establish the "Mainland Enterprises Go Global Program". He will supervise the work of program members and coordinate with relevant policy bureaus, departments, and institutions to create tailored "going-global" solutions for mainland enterprises. The program will mobilize resources across bureaus, departments, institutions, and sectors to establish an unprecedented and efficient "going-global" support platform. The work will be carried out in three dimensions: 1. Win-win Cooperation: The program will bring together expertise from various sectors such as law, finance, and accounting to promote resource integration and knowledge sharing for a synergistic effect. The launching ceremony gathered partners from business and professional sectors to provide comprehensive support to enterprises going global. 2. Expand Networks: The program will integrate the efforts of relevant policy bureaus to expand international connections. As the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Kuala Lumpur is set to operate soon, the government will expand the office's coverage to potential new markets, helping outstanding mainland enterprises connect and expand their businesses to more promising markets. 3. Results-oriented: The program will provide tailored one-stop support solutions based on the actual needs of enterprises, including consultation services in taxation, law, financing, testing and verification, ESG (environment, social, and governance), and intellectual property protection. Yau emphasized that the goal of the program is to assist mainland enterprises in expanding their international businesses in an orderly manner, in line with national policies encouraging enterprises to go global. This will help convert into a new economic driving force for Hong Kong and further cement its position as an international trade hub.
