According to data from the Statistics and Census Bureau of Macao, the average occupancy rate of hotel rooms in August this year increased by 1.5 percentage points year-on-year to 92.9%, with an increase of 3.0% in the number of guests to 1.303 million.
According to the data from the Statistics and Census Bureau of Macau, the average occupancy rate of hotel rooms in August this year increased by 1.5 percentage points year on year to 92.9%, with an increase of 3.0% in guests to 1.3 million; the number of group inbound tourists decreased by 18.8% year-on-year to 162,000, but increased by 7.4% monthly. At the end of August, there were a total of 147 hotel establishments providing accommodation services to the public, an increase of 3 from the previous year, with an increase of 1.3% in the number of rooms to 45,000. The occupancy rate of hotel rooms in August increased by 1.5 percentage points year-on-year to 92.9%, with the occupancy rate of five-star (95.7%) and four-star (88.2%) hotels increasing by 2.2 and 1.6 percentage points, respectively, while the occupancy rate of three-star hotels (89.9%) decreased by 0.9 percentage points.
In August, the number of guests in hotel establishments increased by 3.0% year-on-year to 1.3 million; the number of guests from Mainland China (991,000) increased by 2.4%, while international guests (87,000) increased by 20.3%, with Thai guests (8,000) increasing by 1.6 times year-on-year; guests from Korea (28,000), Japan (10,000), Singapore (5,000) and Malaysia (5,000) increased by 6.0%, 58.2%, 36.2% and 29.2% respectively, while Indian guests (5,000) decreased by 5.7%. The average length of stay for guests in August remained at 1.6 nights.
In August this year, there were 162,000 group inbound tourists, a decrease of 18.8% year-on-year; group tourists from Mainland China decreased by 24.0% to 142,000, while international group tourists increased by 30.2% to 14,000.
In the first eight months of this year, the average occupancy rate of hotel rooms increased by 4.3 percentage points year-on-year to 89.8%, with a 0.1% increase in guests to 9.791 million, and an average length of stay of 1.7 nights. On the other hand, the total number of group inbound tourists in the first eight months decreased by 6.1% year-on-year to 1.28 million, with an increase of 11.7% in international group tourists to 143,000.
