State Administration of Foreign Exchange: China's current account surplus reached 925.2 billion yuan in the second quarter of 2025.

In the second quarter of 2025, China had a current account surplus of 925.2 billion yuan and a capital and financial account deficit of 984.2 billion yuan. In the first half of 2025, China had a current account surplus of 211.26 billion yuan and a capital and financial account deficit of 199.36 billion yuan.
On September 30th, the State Administration of Foreign Exchange released China's balance of payments for the second quarter and first half of 2025. The data shows that in the second quarter of 2025, China had a current account surplus of 925.2 billion yuan, and a capital and financial account deficit of 984.2 billion yuan. In the first half of 2025, China had a current account surplus of 2,112.6 billion yuan, and a capital and financial account deficit of 1,993.6 billion yuan. In terms of US dollars, in the second quarter of 2025, China had a current account surplus of 128.7 billion US dollars, with a trade surplus in goods of 219.1 billion US dollars, a trade deficit in services of 47.1 billion US dollars, a primary income deficit of 47.4 billion US dollars, and a secondary income surplus of 4.1 billion US dollars. The State Administration of Foreign Exchange also announced that in the first half of 2025, China had a current account surplus of 294.1 billion US dollars, with a trade surplus in goods of 456.7 billion US dollars, a trade deficit in services of 106.4 billion US dollars, a primary income deficit of 62.9 billion US dollars, and a secondary income surplus of 6.8 billion US dollars. The capital and financial account had a deficit of 277.6 billion US dollars, with a deficit of 1 billion US dollars in the capital account and 277.5 billion US dollars in the financial account. In terms of Special Drawing Rights (SDR), in the second quarter of 2025, China had a current account surplus of 94.9 billion SDR, and a capital and financial account deficit of 100.8 billion SDR. In the first half of 2025, China had a current account surplus of 220.9 billion SDR, and a capital and financial account deficit of 207.6 billion SDR. To facilitate the interpretation of the balance of payments and international investment position data by all sectors of society, the State Administration of Foreign Exchange International Payments Analysis Team simultaneously released the "2025 China Balance of Payments Report for the first half of the year."
