In the first 8 months of 2025, the software and information technology service industry (referred to as the "software industry") operated well, with steady growth in software revenue, double-digit growth in total profits, and positive growth in software service exports.
1. Overall operation
In the first 8 months, the revenue of the software industry was 9.6409 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 12.6%. The total profit of the software industry was 1.3186 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13.0%. The software service export was 40.44 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 6.4%.
2. Operation in different sectors
Revenue from software products showed steady growth. In the first 8 months, the revenue from software products was 2.113 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.3%, accounting for 21.9% of the total industry revenue. Among them, revenue from basic software products was 122 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13.6%; revenue from industrial software products was 202.1 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 8.7%.
Revenue from information technology services maintained double-digit growth. In the first 8 months, the revenue from information technology services was 6.5916 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13.7%, accounting for 68.4% of the total industry revenue. Among them, revenue from cloud computing and big data services totaled 999.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13.3%, accounting for 15.2% of the revenue from information technology services; revenue from integrated circuit design was 289.3 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17.7%; revenue from e-commerce platform technology services was 884.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.8%.
Revenue from information security and embedded system software showed steady growth. In the first 8 months, revenue from information security products and services was 138.1 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.9%. Revenue from embedded system software was 799.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 8.7%.
3. Operation in different regions
In the first 8 months, the revenue of the software industry in the eastern, central, western, and northeastern regions increased by 12.9%, 12.3%, 10.7%, and 8.9% respectively. The eastern region accounted for 84.1% of the total revenue of the software industry nationwide. The software industry revenue in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region increased by 13.9%, and in the Yangtze River Delta region, it increased by 14.8%. Beijing, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Shandong, and Shanghai ranked in the top 5 in terms of software industry revenue nationwide, with year-on-year increases of 14.2%, 9.0%, 14.4%, 12.7%, and 20.7% respectively.
