Political reckoning begins! Trump pressures businesses to fire "political enemy" Monako, and demands Microsoft Corporation (MSFT.US) to do the same.
President Trump called on Microsoft to fire its global affairs chief, Lisa Monaco.
President Trump has called on Microsoft Corporation (MSFT.US) to fire its global affairs chief, Lisa Monaco, in the latest in a series of actions he has taken against former government officials he views as political enemies.
Trump has long criticized Monaco, accusing her of using her position as Deputy Attorney General under former President Biden to push for investigations into his actions. Monaco served as Deputy Attorney General in the Biden administration.
In March of this year, Trump revoked Monaco's security clearance, barring her from accessing classified information. He cited this decision on Friday, arguing that Microsoft Corporation should terminate her employment, claiming that her executive position at the tech giant allows her access to "highly sensitive information" that poses a threat to "US national security, especially given Microsoft Corporation's substantial contracts with the US government."
Trump added, "I believe Microsoft Corporation should immediately terminate Lisa Monaco's employment." Monaco's employment status at Microsoft Corporation was reported in June of this year.
The day before Trump's demand for Monaco's firing, the US Department of Justice had just filed a lawsuit against former FBI Director James Comey. This stark contrast shows how Trump retaliates against government officials he claims have wronged him.
