Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Sets New Strategic Tracks for Emerging Future Industries
At the opening of the 25th China International Industry Fair on September 23, Minister of Industry and Information Technology Li Licheng outlined the ministry’s priorities for the 15th Five-Year Plan period, centering on advancing new-type industrialization and promoting high-quality development. The ministry will emphasize the cultivation of new productive forces, accelerate integration between technological innovation and industrial transformation, and rely on reform-driven innovation to build a modern industrial system anchored by advanced manufacturing, thereby reinforcing the material and technological foundations for China’s modernization.
Minister Li stressed the need to implement targeted measures that nurture emerging sectors and generate new growth drivers, coordinating technological breakthroughs, scaled manufacturing capacity, and the construction of application scenarios to accelerate the emergence of strategic new industries. The ministry will establish mechanisms to increase investment in future-facing industries and strengthen R&D and commercialization of frontier technologies. New strategic tracks to be opened include humanoid robotics, brain–computer interfaces, the metaverse, and quantum information, accompanied by the creation of a series of pilot zones to lead development in these future industries.
