Ford (F.US) faces another safety issue: recalling nearly 102,000 vehicles due to the door trim panel detaching.
Ford is recalling around 102,000 vehicles due to an issue with the interior door trim panel falling off.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the United States, Ford Motor Company (F.US) is recalling 101,944 vehicles in the United States due to a defect that could cause the door trim panels to detach while the vehicle is in motion.
This recall involves certain 2016 to 2019 model years of the Taurus. The recall report states that during operation, the door trim on the B pillar (the vertical pillar located between the driver's seat and the rear passenger seat on both sides) for the driver and front passenger may detach, posing a road safety hazard and increasing the risk of collision. Dealers will inspect the B pillar trim and repair or replace it as needed, free of charge.
This recall event makes Ford more noticeable in terms of safety recalls, as it has already set a record in safety recalls. As of June 2025, Ford has issued 88 safety recalls, a number that surpasses any other automaker's annual recall count. Earlier this year, a major recall involving 850,000 trucks and SUVs was conducted due to a possible fuel pump failure. Earlier this month, the automaker recalled 1,456,417 vehicles due to a defect in their rear view cameras.
