Meituan's catering store pages add a "made-to-order" information display column.
On September 19th, consumers reported that there were some restaurants on Meituan and Dianping apps that promised "hot dishes made to order". In response to this, the person in charge of Meituan's catering products stated that the "hot dishes made to order" information section for catering businesses is currently in a trial phase. This is mainly to satisfy consumers' right to know about store information, and also to help the businesses that make dishes to order better and more comprehensively showcase their restaurants to consumers online. Once officially launched, restaurants can publish information about their hot dishes made to order anytime through the business background, showing consumers the dynamics of the kitchen. Several industry professionals in the catering industry have stated that there is currently no unified standard of understanding regarding "made to order" in the industry. Kitchen chefs in restaurants usually use various methods like cook, steam, bake, and stir-fry to provide fresh and delicious dishes to dine-in consumers. If catering businesses clearly provide hot dishes made to order services in their operation, they can inform consumers on the online platform as needed. The aforementioned person in charge of Meituan's catering products mentioned that there will be more information display functions added in the future to allow businesses to showcase the real information of their offline stores and meet consumers' need for information. Previously, some catering businesses have added content such as "hot and spicy stir-fry" and "stir-fry and sell now" in their store headers, or uploaded information about "clear menus and chefs" and "kitchen-made" in the store, making the store's atmosphere more transparent. Meituan data shows that "stir-fry" is a hot search term for Chinese catering consumers, and since the beginning of this year, the search volume for keywords like "made to order" and "cooked now" has increased by over 43%, with related comments growing by 90%.
