Chinese Railways: 3.2 billion passengers travelled across the country by train from January to August.
According to the China Railway official account, from January to August, the national railways transported 3.2 billion passengers, a year-on-year increase of 6.7%, reaching a new historical high for the same period, and railway transportation across the country remains safe and orderly.
According to the China Railway public account, China Railway Group has been continuously deepening the structural reform of supply-side transportation since the beginning of this year, strengthening passenger transportation organization, enriching passenger product supply, actively assisting in stabilizing the economy, expanding domestic demand, promoting consumption, and providing strong support for safe, convenient, warm travel for passengers and the continued improvement of the economy. From January to August, the national railway transported 3.2 billion passengers, an increase of 6.7% year-on-year, setting a historical high for the same period, and the national railway transportation is safe, stable, and orderly.
First, the passenger transportation capacity continues to increase. Coordinating high-speed railways and conventional railways, using the high-standard operation achievements of the Beijing-Harbin section of the Beijing-Harbin high-speed railway, the Hangzhou-Changsha section of the Shanghai-Kunming high-speed railway, the Chongqing East to Qianjiang section of the Chongqing East to Xiamen high-speed railway, and other newly added capacities this year, the national railway arranged to operate an average of 11,127 passenger trains per day, an increase of 7.7% year-on-year. By using the big data from the railway's 12306 ticketing system to accurately analyze passenger travel demand, dynamically adjust train operation plans, better meet passenger travel demands. Strengthen cross-border passenger transportation organization, with the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed railway and the China-Laos railway sending 21.15 million and 174,000 cross-border passengers respectively. Maintaining the scale of conventional passenger train operations, operating public welfare "slow trains" and rural revitalization trains, providing convenience for the travel of residents in old, young, border, and poverty-stricken areas.
Second, the quantity and quality of tourist trains have increased. Aligning with the market demand for tourism, sightseeing, ecological health, red education, and other purposes, carefully designing and operating tourist train routes with unique characteristics, promoting "trains to scenic areas". Researching and developing and deploying tourist trains suitable for the elderly, continuously creating tourist train brands such as "Jinghe", "Qilu 1", "Xiaoxiang", and "Tianshan", customized operation of "music fan special trains", "sports fan special trains", opening passenger trains between tourism hotspots to stimulate the development of the "tourist train+" economy and expand new consumption scenarios. From January to August, the national railway has operated a total of 1,551 tourist trains, an increase of 26.1% year-on-year, effectively serving the development of tourism and silver economy.
Third, the travel experience is becoming better. The student ticket reservation service function operates normally, and the student discount ticket usage time intervals, applicable ranges, check rules, etc. are further optimized, effectively serving and guaranteeing student passengers in ticket purchase and travel. Providing services such as railway clearance codes, convenient transfers, internet meal reservations during travel, with 92 internet meal reservation sites established to improve the quality of food supply, striving to provide good meals. The pilot range of high-speed rail pet transport and "light travel" services have covered 40 and 30 stations respectively. Strengthening coordination with local transportation departments, enhancing connection levels, providing 45 railway stations without security checks for passengers connecting to the subway, making passenger travel more convenient and efficient. Strengthening services for key passenger groups such as the elderly, children, disabled, and pregnant women, enhancing response efficiency and service quality. Providing guidance for civilized travel, continuously carrying out the theme activities of "My Railway Scenery", enriching cultural life during travel, and creating a warm and comfortable travel environment for passengers.
Next, China Railway Group will continue to promote the market-oriented reform and operation of railway passenger transport, optimize the supply of railway passenger products, carefully organize transportation during the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holidays, improve the quality of station services, operate high-quality tourist trains and special trains for the silver population, promote the integration of railways and tourism development, and provide support for the all-round expansion of domestic demand and the promotion of economic recovery and improvement.
