Lai Ka Chiu: Hong Kong introduces various discounts during National Day holiday, including half-price movie tickets, restaurant discounts, etc.

In terms of cultural and leisure activities, the Hong Kong government and various institutions will launch several promotions, including on October 1st when the government will offer a half-price movie ticket subsidy, covering half of the ticket price.
On September 16th, Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu announced that the Hong Kong government, along with various sectors of society, have prepared a series of colorful and festive activities and special offers to celebrate the 76th anniversary of National Day on October 1st. These activities include performances, cultural and artistic events, recreational activities, exhibitions, performances, transportation and dining discounts. In terms of culture, arts, and leisure, the Hong Kong government and various organizations will offer a variety of discounts. For example, on October 1st, the government will subsidize half of the ticket price for movie screenings, attracting an estimated 190,000 viewers to commercial cinemas across Hong Kong. The Leisure and Cultural Services Department will offer free admission to various leisure facilities, the Science Museum, the Space Museum, as well as special exhibits at art galleries and the Hong Kong Wetland Park. Additionally, on October 1st, there will be a National Day horse racing event where citizens can enter the public stands at the Sha Tin and Happy Valley racecourses for free, with discounts on food and beverage purchases. On October 11th, children can enjoy a 24% discount on round-trip tickets for the Ngong Ping 360 cable car. Ocean Park will offer an 15% discount on tickets from October 1st to 5th, and discounts and souvenirs will be available at the Peak Tram, Madame Tussauds Hong Kong, West Kowloon Cultural District, and Tai Kwun. On National Day, there will be a flag raising ceremony and a National Day reception in the morning, followed by a large fireworks display over Victoria Harbour in the evening with the theme "Victoria Harbour Fireworks Illuminate China," featuring over 30,000 fireworks lighting up the Hong Kong skyline. On the evening of October 2nd, there will be a cultural performance to celebrate the 76th anniversary of National Day, which will be broadcasted live by multiple television stations. Several public transportation operators will offer discounts to facilitate travel for citizens. On October 1st, citizens can ride the tram, Star Ferry's Tsim Sha Tsui-Central route, or New World First Ferry's North Point-Hung Hom or North Point-Kowloon City routes for free. Foutune Ferry will distribute 2,000 free boat ride tickets for the Central-Hung Hom and North Point-Kwun Tong-Kai Tak routes. Children can ride designated day routes on Kowloon Motor Bus, Long Win Bus, Citybus, and New Lantao Bus for free. MTR will raffle off 76,000 electronic single journey tickets on October 1st, allowing winners to travel for free on specified local journeys, cross-boundary journeys to Lo Wu or Lok Ma Chau stations, or on the Airport Express. In terms of dining and consumption, the food and retail industries are actively celebrating National Day by offering various discounts to make shopping enjoyable for citizens. Thousands of restaurants and merchants will offer food and dining discounts on October 1st. The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department's four markets, as well as the "Our HomeOur Heritage 2.0" shops within the Hong Kong Housing Authority properties, will offer discounts and giveaways. Over 100 shopping malls, department stores, as well as the Hong Kong International Airport, Hong Kong Science Park, and the Design Gallery of Hong Kong Trade Development Council, will provide shopping, dining, and free parking discounts. John Lee Ka-chiu also mentioned that tomorrow he will be delivering his fourth Policy Address since taking office. The cover of this Policy Address will continue to use the color green, which represents vitality, continuity, and the government's policies and the prosperity of Hong Kong will continue to move forward year after year towards a better tomorrow. The theme of this Policy Address is "Deepening reform, caring for people's livelihoods, leveraging advantages, and co-creating the future", focusing on the economy and livelihoods, reflecting his past governance and years of commitment to economic development and improving people's livelihoods.
