Vantage Data Centers has secured a $1.6 billion investment led by GIC and ADIA to expand in Asia-Pacific. The funding will facilitate the acquisition of a major data center campus in Johor, Malaysia, boosting the company’s regional capacity to 1 gigawatt. This move capitalizes on the growing demand for digital infrastructure driven by AI and cloud computing.

Vantage Data Centers, a leading global provider of hyperscale data centers, has announced a substantial $1.6 billion investment to accelerate its expansion in the Asia-Pacific region. This funding round was led by an affiliate of GIC, a Singapore-based global institutional investor, and a unit of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA). Both GIC and ADIA are existing investors in Vantage, which is backed by the digital infrastructure firm DigitalBridge.

The investment will be used to support Vantage's strategic acquisition of a data center campus in Johor, Malaysia, from Yondr Group. This campus, located in Sedenak Tech Park, is one of the largest hyperscale data center facilities in Southeast Asia and is poised to deliver over 300 megawatts of IT capacity upon full development. With this acquisition, Vantage's operational and planned capacity across the Asia-Pacific region will reach 1 gigawatt.

This significant capital infusion underscores the increasing demand for digital infrastructure in the region, which is being fueled by the rapid growth of artificial intelligence and cloud computing. The Johor campus, which will be known as JHB1, is situated in the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone and offers advanced features like direct-to-chip liquid cooling. The investment and acquisition are expected to be finalized in the fourth quarter of 2025.

According to Vantage's president for APAC, Jeremy Deutsch, this deal positions the company as one of the region's largest providers of sustainable AI and cloud digital infrastructure. The collaboration with GIC and ADIA, as well as DigitalBridge, reinforces confidence in Vantage's ability to execute at scale in high-demand markets like Malaysia, where a wave of data center projects is taking place.
