Due to the increase in same-day visitors, the average length of stay for tourists decreased by 0.1 days to 1.1 days overall, while the average length of stay remained unchanged for same-day visitors (0.2 days) and overnight visitors (2.3 days).
In terms of visitor source, the number of tourists from Mainland China increased by 19.3% to 13,767,810, with a 24.6% increase in individual travelers (7,412,318). Additionally, there were 867,492 visitors entering through the "one-week-one-trip", 241,257 through the "multiple-visit visa", and 72,149 through organized tours. With the support of growth in visitors from Zhuhai, the Greater Bay Area of the Pearl River Delta saw a 25.7% increase in visitors to 7,016,216. Tourists from Hong Kong (3,647,321) and Taiwan (461,735) also increased by 1.1% and 14.0% respectively from the previous year.
International tourists in the first half of the year totaled 1,341,674, representing a 14.8% year-on-year increase. From Southeast Asian markets, visitors from the Philippines (273,715), Indonesia (104,608), Malaysia (90,259), and Thailand (80,932) increased by 16.8%, 13.8%, 6.0%, and 8.8% respectively, while visitors from Singapore (54,543) decreased by 0.7%. Visitors from India in South Asia increased by 6.2% to 58,309. Northeast Asian visitors from South Korea (282,151) and Japan (76,435) saw respective increases of 21.7% and 23.5% compared to the previous year. Among long-haul sources, visitors from the United States (76,457) increased by 9.9% year-on-year.
In terms of entry channels, the number of visitors entering by land (15,780,124, accounting for 82.1% of total) increased by 20.4% year-on-year, with increases of 25.5% and 40.6% through the Border Gate and Hengqin Port respectively. Visitors entering by sea (1,978,499, accounting for 10.3%) and air (1,459,917, accounting for 7.6%) decreased by 5.2% and 4.1% respectively compared to the same period last year.
In June 2025, there were a total of 2,891,003 inbound tourists, representing a 13.3% increase compared to the previous year. Same-day visitors (1,611,641) and overnight visitors (1,279,362) saw respective increases of 22.5% and 3.6%. The average length of stay for tourists was 1.2 days, remaining unchanged from the previous year, with same-day visitors (0.2 days) remaining the same and overnight visitors (2.4 days) increasing by 0.1 days.
