To further implement the relevant work deployment of the central Cyberspace Administration, and to promote the protection of personal information in the province, in accordance with the special work arrangement of "Guangdong Digital Governance 2025", the Guangdong Provincial Committee of Cyberspace Administration recently led the organization of the Provincial Department of Education, the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, the Provincial Public Security Department, the Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the Provincial Department of Transportation, the Provincial Department of Commerce, the Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the Provincial Market Supervision Administration, the Provincial Sports Bureau, the Provincial Postal Administration, and other regulatory enforcement departments and industry regulatory departments to hold a coordination meeting on the governance of personal information in the province.
The meeting conveyed the relevant documents of the central Cyberspace Administration. Various relevant units successively spoke to introduce the basic information of their unit, the key areas of personal information processing activities in their industry, and reached a consensus on the normalization of collaborative governance of personal information. The meeting interpreted the "Personal Information Protection Law", "Regulations on Cybersecurity Management", and "Measures for the Secure Application of Facial Recognition Technology", and further deployed specific governance requirements for key areas of illegal collection and use of facial recognition and other personal information in recent times.
Next, the Provincial Committee of Cyberspace Administration will focus on key areas of facial recognition technology application in public places, offline consumption illegal collection of personal information, and other prominent issues for key rectification in accordance with the "Personal Information Protection Law", "Measures for the Secure Application of Facial Recognition Technology", and other relevant laws and regulations. They will also increase media publicity efforts, promote changes through specific cases, and push for the formation of a good atmosphere in society for the legal protection of personal information.
