Walt Disney Company's ESPN Secures Five-Year Broadcasting Rights and Minority Ownership of Long Stick Hockey League.
Disney-owned ESPN has made a small equity investment in the Premier Lacrosse League.
According to an announcement released on Wednesday, Walt Disney Company (DIS.US) owned ESPN has acquired a minority stake in the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) and has extended the media broadcasting rights for the league's games for five more years. The financial details and scale of this equity acquisition have not been disclosed by both parties.
This broadcasting agreement will be effective from the 2026 season, covering all regular season, all-star game, playoffs, and championship games of the professional lacrosse league; matches of the Women's Premier Lacrosse League; as well as future drafts of the professional lacrosse league and Women's Lacrosse League (WLL).
All "PLL" and "WLL" series games will be broadcasted live on ESPN+, with some games also airing on ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2 platforms. It is mentioned that more details regarding the international broadcasting arrangements for this event will be announced soon.
