"2024 Public Housing" has sold about 2700 units, accounting for approximately 35% of the total number, applicants have a strong demand for subsidized units for sale.
The Hong Kong Housing Authority stated on a social media page that the "Home Ownership Scheme 2024" will start the selection of units on May 29th. After approximately 3 weeks of priority selection, around 2700 units have been sold, accounting for about 35% of the total. The sales speed is faster than that of the "Home Ownership Scheme 2023", reflecting the high demand for subsidized units. The Housing Authority mentioned that this sales includes a total of 7132 new public housing units across 5 estates, around 300 resale units, and a new batch of approximately 400 units from the Tenants Purchase Scheme. In total, there are over 7800 units available. Up to 800 families with newborn babies have successfully purchased units through the new "Priority for Families with Newborns Plan". It is expected that more families with newborns will benefit in the future as more qualify for the program. The Housing Authority stated that after the optimization of quota distribution and completion of the first phase of the selection process tomorrow, all new public housing estates in this sales round will still have units available for "other families" and single applicants to purchase, such as the Kai Tak Kai Yip Estate and Yau Tong Ko Chun Estate, which have around 1000 and 500 units respectively.
