Intel has appointed a new engineering leadership team to align with the transformation plan led by CEO Pat Gelsinger.
Intel Corporation (INTC.US) has appointed a new engineering leadership team to support the company's transformation plan led by CEO Liwu Chen. Intel Corporation announced on Wednesday that Srinivasan Iyengar, Jean-Didier Allegrucci, and Shailendra Desai will join the company in key engineering positions. Additionally, Intel Corporation has promoted current sales director Greg Ernst to the position of Chief Revenue Officer. Since taking over as CEO in March of this year, Liwu Chen has been focused on restoring Intel Corporation's talent advantage in engineering and emphasizing the need to create products that better meet customer demand. He has also announced a restructuring plan and measures to streamline the management hierarchy. One of the biggest challenges facing Liwu Chen is the comprehensive reform of Intel Corporation's AI chips. Compared to the rapid growth of NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA.US) in the artificial intelligence computing market, Intel Corporation's related products have performed poorly and are on the sidelines of this AI boom. As CEO, Liwu Chen will also need to find more customers for Intel Corporation's vast semiconductor factory network. Greg Ernst, who currently oversees Intel Corporation's sales and marketing department, will now take on the responsibility of establishing closer relationships with customers. He has been with Intel Corporation for over 20 years and has held various sales and product development-related positions. Srinivasan Iyengar will serve as Senior Vice President, overseeing the newly established "Customer Engineering Excellence Center" and will report directly to Liwu Chen. He previously worked at Cadence (CDNS.US), a company specializing in chip design software, where Liwu Chen himself served as CEO for over ten years. Jean-Didier Allegrucci will oversee AI System on Chip (SoC) engineering, responsible for the future product development of Intel Corporation's artificial intelligence chips. He previously worked at startup company Rain AI and prior to that spent 17 years at Apple Inc. (AAPL.US), contributing to the development of over 30 chips. Shailendra Desai has joined Intel Corporation from Alphabet Inc. Class C (GOOGL.US). After Alphabet Inc. Class C acquired his startup Provino Technologies in 2021, he became the silicon engineering lead at Alphabet Inc. Class C. He will lead the development of AI graphics processors at Intel Corporation, a key step in Intel Corporation's challenge against NVIDIA Corporation.
