On June 17, the Hong Kong Social Welfare Department released the latest figures on Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) cases. In May, the overall number of CSSA cases increased slightly by 11 cases, similar to the figures from April. By the end of May, there were a total of 195,436 CSSA cases, benefiting a total of 261,668 individuals.
In terms of case categories, the month-on-month decrease in cases in the low-income category was 0.9%, with 1,331 cases. The single-parent category saw a 0.3% decrease, with 18,882 cases. The permanent disability category saw a 0.1% decrease, with 16,597 cases. The unemployment category saw a 0.4% increase, with 16,157 cases. The category of poor health saw a 0.3% increase, with 27,775 cases. The elderly category remained stable, with 110,773 cases.
