July 1st marks the 28th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland.
Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu attended a press conference before the executive meeting and stated that July 1 is the 28th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland. It is announced that over a hundred events will be held in all 18 districts of Hong Kong, with the government and different industries offering discounts.
MTR (00066) will be giving away 71,000 tickets in a lucky draw format, with children and seniors receiving half-price on the Airport Express line that day, free ferry rides between Tsim Sha Tsui and Wan Chai on the Star Ferry, and free tram rides for three consecutive days starting on July 1.
In addition, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department has various indoor and outdoor facilities, science museums, and cultural museums with permanent exhibitions at West Kowloon offering free admission. Ocean Park offers an 20% discount for two people and a 30% discount for three people. The Peak Tram offers an 15% discount.
Furthermore, over a thousand restaurants have specified discounts on selected items, and many markets are offering discounts and gifts, with local produce selling at a 29% discount and double reward points for Green Green Club members.
From the end of June to August, many merchants will be offering discounts on dining, shopping, tourist attractions, and tours, with details to be announced later.
