On June 6, the Ministry of Commerce data shows that China's service trade maintained a rapid growth from January to April 2025, with the total volume of service imports and exports totaling 26,320.6 billion yuan, an increase of 8.2% year-on-year.
On June 6th, the Ministry of Commerce data showed that from January to April 2025, China's service trade maintained rapid growth, with a total service import and export volume of 2.63206 trillion yuan, an increase of 8.2% year-on-year. Among them, exports were 1.12852 trillion yuan, an increase of 14.6%; imports were 1.50354 trillion yuan, an increase of 3.9%. The service trade deficit was 375.02 billion yuan, a decrease of 87.56 billion yuan from the same period last year.
The main characteristics are as follows:
Knowledge-intensive service trade steadily increased. From January to April, the import and export volume of knowledge-intensive services was 1.01636 trillion yuan, an increase of 5.5%. Among them, other commercial services, telecommunications, computers, and information services had large import and export scales, with amounts of 431.07 billion yuan and 361.71 billion yuan, and growth rates of 3.4% and 9.5% respectively. The export of knowledge-intensive services was 590.24 billion yuan, an increase of 6.1%; the import of knowledge-intensive services was 426.12 billion yuan, an increase of 4.6%. The surplus of knowledge-intensive service trade was 164.12 billion yuan, an increase of 15.26 billion yuan from the same period last year.
Travel service exports grew the fastest. From January to April, travel services continued to grow rapidly, with imports and exports reaching 756.78 billion yuan, an increase of 14.7%, making it the largest area of service trade. Among them, exports grew by 79.9%, and imports grew by 7.8%.
