On Thursday, stablecoin giant Circle (CRCL.US) debuted on the New York Stock Exchange, with its opening stock price soaring over 140%, reaching a high of 75.9 US dollars and hitting a halt. The IPO price was 31 US dollars. Circle's USDC holds about 27% of the stablecoin market, ranking second only to Tether USDT which holds 67% of the market.
The US Congress is pushing for stablecoin regulation legislation, which may be passed as early as August, giving stablecoins greater regulatory awareness. Meanwhile, according to media reports, some of the largest banks on Wall Street are jointly exploring the possibility of issuing their own stablecoins.
