The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government has appointed Tsai Hong Xing as the Executive Director of the Urban Renewal Authority (URA), effective from June 15, 2025, for a term of 3 years.
On May 29, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region accepted the recommendation of the Selection Committee and appointed Choi Hung-hing as the Executive Director of the Urban Renewal Authority (URA), effective from June 15, 2025, for a term of 3 years, succeeding Wee Chi-shing who will retire. The Executive Director of URA is the highest-ranking executive in the URA and is responsible for leading project teams to implement the decisions and instructions of the Board of Directors. Choi Hung-hing's resume shows that he is a professional architect, holding a Bachelor of Mathematics degree from the University of British Columbia in Canada and a degree in architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design. He served as the Chief Executive of the Huamou Group from 2018 until his retirement in August 2024, and has also served as the President of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects and the President of the Hong Kong Institute of Urban Design. Paul Chan Mo-po, the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, served as the Chairman of the Selection Committee for the Executive Director of URA. Members of the Selection Committee included Vincent Wong Wing Lun, Deputy Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury; Michael Wong Wai-nam, the Secretary for Development; Victor So Hing-woh, the Chairman of URA; and Stephen Chan Fu-keung, a non-executive director of URA.
