Xiaomi (01810.HK) has signed a multi-year agreement with Qualcomm to continue using Snapdragon 8 series chips in its high-end smartphones. The two companies celebrated 15 years of partnership and plan to expand collaboration across edge devices.

On May 20, Qualcomm announced via its official website the signing of a new multi-year agreement with Xiaomi (01810.HK), marking the 15th anniversary of their partnership. At present, the announcement is only available in English, with no official Chinese version released.

Lei Jun, Chairman of Xiaomi Group, commented, “Qualcomm has consistently been one of Xiaomi’s most trusted and essential partners, playing a vital role in our growth from a startup to a global technology leader. We look forward to continuing our collaboration over the next 15 years, leveraging Qualcomm’s advanced Snapdragon platforms and technologies to deliver more innovative and high-quality products to customers worldwide.”

Cristiano Amon, President and CEO of Qualcomm, stated, “We highly value the close relationship established over the past 15 years and are excited to continue working together to enhance Xiaomi’s premium smartphones through the Snapdragon platform. We also anticipate expanding cooperation into areas such as automotive, smart home devices, wearables, AR/VR headsets, and tablets.”

According to the announcement, Xiaomi’s flagship smartphones will remain powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 series processors. These chips will be integrated across multiple product generations marketed in China and globally, with annual shipment volumes expected to grow throughout the contract period. Xiaomi is also set to be among the first manufacturers to adopt the next-generation Snapdragon 8 series processors later this year.

Looking ahead, both companies plan to jointly promote advancements in edge devices, including smartphones, automobiles, AR/VR wearables, tablets, and more — particularly focusing on integration with on-device artificial intelligence.

In recent developments, Xiaomi’s efforts in self-developed chips have attracted industry attention. On May 20, Lei Jun revealed on Weibo that the Xiaomi Xuanjie O1 — the company’s 3nm flagship chip designed in-house — has entered mass production. Two flagship products featuring the new chip are set to launch concurrently: the Xiaomi 15s pro high-end smartphone and the Xiaomi Pad 7 ultra, an ultra-premium OLED tablet.

These developments have drawn further interest in Xiaomi’s ongoing relationship with Qualcomm. Addressing this, Cristiano Amon stated that Xiaomi’s progress in chip development is not expected to impact their business partnership. “We remain Xiaomi’s strategic chip supplier. Importantly, Snapdragon chips are already powering Xiaomi’s flagship devices and will continue to do so,” he emphasized.
