On May 20th, the National Energy Administration released data on the total electricity consumption for the whole society in April.
On May 20th, the National Energy Administration released the data for total electricity consumption in April. In April, the total electricity consumption reached 772.1 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 4.7% compared to the same period last year. In terms of electricity consumption by sector, the first industry consumed 11 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 13.8%; the second industry consumed 528.5 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 3.0%; the third industry consumed 139 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 9.0%; and urban and rural residents consumed 93.6 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 7.0%. From January to April, the total electricity consumption accumulated to 315.66 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 3.1% compared to the same period last year, with industrial electricity consumption of 298.4 billion kilowatt-hours. In terms of electricity consumption by sector, the first industry consumed 42.4 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 10.0%; the second industry consumed 204.97 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 2.3%; the third industry consumed 58.56 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 6.0%; and urban and rural residents consumed 47.89 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 2.5%.
