Raymond Li: Fully develop innovative technology to inject momentum into the development of new productive forces in Hong Kong.
Facing the challenges of geopolitics and protectionism, we will make good use of the interconnected capital markets between Hong Kong and the mainland, the open and free business environment, and the globally connected transportation and trade networks. We will fully develop innovative technologies to inject momentum into the development of new productive forces in Hong Kong.
On May 20th, Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu stated that Hong Kong has the advantage of internal connection and external communication under the principle of "one country, two systems", and is an international financial, shipping, and trading center. Faced with geopolitical and protectionist challenges, Hong Kong will make good use of the interconnected capital markets with the mainland, the free and open business environment, and the interconnected transportation and trade networks with the world, to fully develop innovative technologies and inject momentum into the new productive forces of Hong Kong.
John Lee Ka-chiu mentioned that technology is the primary productivity and innovation is the driving force. Hong Kong is the only city in Asia with up to five top 100 universities, attracting scientific research talents from home and abroad with strong basic research capabilities. The Hong Kong SAR government is fully committed to building Hong Kong into an international innovation and technology hub, promoting the development of new industrialization and innovative industries, and transforming excellent research and development results into practical applications. Hong Kong has innovated its approach to government investment in innovative industries, strengthening the guidance of market funds, investing strategically in emerging and future industries, and promoting efficient cooperation between the government, industry, academia, research, and investment.
The Hexi Cooperation Zone is one of the important platforms for national scientific and technological innovation, providing a large amount of development land to support the development of innovative technology and new productive forces. The first three buildings in the Hong Kong park of the Hexi-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone have been completed, and in the second half of the year, the first batch of companies from key industries such as life health technology, artificial intelligence, and data science will move in, officially entering the operational phase. They will make good use of Hong Kong's highly internationalized and talent-aggregating advantages to turn Hexi into a bridgehead for national scientific and technological innovation, a demonstration field for high-end achievements, and an incubator.
