On May 19th, the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government signed a cooperation arrangement with the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China on the "Single Window" to further enhance cooperation and exchanges between Hong Kong and the mainland in the "Single Window" area and promote the connection of systems between the two places.
Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Edward Yau, stated that the mainland is Hong Kong's largest trading partner in goods, and cross-border trade between the two places is frequent, making an efficient and convenient customs clearance process especially important. The "Single Window" provides the industry with a one-stop electronic platform to submit all kinds of trade documents required for customs clearance to the government, which is an important measure for trade facilitation. The Commerce and Economic Development Bureau has always maintained close communication with the Hong Kong Customs on the development of the "Single Window." The signing of the cooperation arrangement will advance the connection and cooperation between the "Single Windows" of the two places to a new level, optimize the current exchange and cooperation mechanisms, and explore different areas of cooperation.
